After the Detroit Lions traded Golden Tate away earlier in the week, the team brought in wide receiver Jeremy Kerley and defensive back Michael Jordan on Friday for workouts.

Kerley is a slot wide receiver who has had a solid NFL career but is still looking for a place to latch on this year. He opened this season with the Buffalo Bills before being released. Kerely was a fifth round pick in the 2011 draft by the New York Jets.

Kerley's best year was in 2012 when he had 827 yards receiving and two touchdowns. This season with the Bills he played one game against the Baltimore Ravens finishing with two receptions for seven yards.

The Lions shocked a lot of people when they traded away Tate earlier this week but head coach Matt Patricia said although difficult, it was a trade that was necessary.

“For us, it's again the holistic picture of taking a look at what's best for us to do as a team and in those situations. They are not easy decisions, and they are certainly difficult decisions,” Patricia said via ESPN. “Again, for us, it's not about one player. It's about a team. It's about everybody. We have a lot of guys that are really good on this team that can produce, and honestly, for me, we have confidence in everybody on this team right now, that everybody can go out and do their job.

Both guys left the Lions facility on Friday without signing a deal, but it's unclear if either guy was offered a contract.
