The Detroit Lions are hoping to end things on a high note following a rough outing in the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, it appears some help is on the way in the form of running back Kerryon Johnson.

Johnson has been on injured reserve while nursing a knee issue. According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, he is now back at practice:

Running back news: The Lions got RB Kerryon Johnson (knee) back at practice from Injured Reserve, and he’s eligible to return Week 16.

Johnson has been sidelined since Week 7 with the knee injury and has missed the last six games because of it. Although he is not eligible to play until Week 16, it is undoubtedly encouraging to see that he is already trying to find his footing at practice. He has only rushed for 308 yards and two touchdowns this season and it seems he is hoping to add to his numbers while he still can before the year is up.

The Lions have largely relied on a committee to help fill the void in Johnson's absence. As a result, there have been a number of featured options in the backfield such as Tre Carson, Ty Johnson, ad J.D. McKissic early on, however, Bo Scarbrough has now firmly established himself as the workhorse for this group as of late.

Detroit is not playing for much with a 3-8-1 record heading into the final stretch of the 2019 campaign so their decision to bring Johnson back may come as a surprise. Regardless, it appears both sides are adamant about getting him involved as long as he is healthy.
