Mo Salah might be at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt right now, but that hasn't stopped him from voicing his opinion on the lack of a new contract at Liverpool. The Reds talisman will see his current deal expire in 2023, but he's seeking a big payday before he actually becomes a free agent.

This is what Salah had to say about the ongoing negotiations, making it very clear he wants to stay at Anfield for the distant future.

“I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff”, he told GQ.  “I love the fans & club. But with the administration, they’ve been told the situation. It’s in their hands”.

Salah has been absolutely clinical this term for Liverpool, netting an EPL-best 16 times and supplying nine assists in 20 Premier League appearances. He's scored a total of 23 goals across all competitions and we just hit the turn of the new year.

The Egyptian is one of the most lethal finishers in world football and a massive part of Liverpool's success. There is absolutely no doubt the Reds and their supporters would love for Salah to stay put, but evidently, an agreement simply hasn't been struck. One thing is for sure though, the 29-year-old is due for a massive increase in wages. It's only a matter of time.
