Danny Ainge confirmed that Lonzo Ball rejected a pre-draft workout invite from the Boston Celtics, but news has now surfaced that he may consider showcasing his skill set for the team with the third overall pick in next month's draft.

It has been reported in a piece made by Chris Haynes of ESPN, that the former UCLA guard's agent and Philadelphia 76ers general manager Jerry Colangelo are currently discussing his potential role with the team should they be able to select him. Once the talks have been completed, Ball and his representatives will make the final decision if he will workout with them or not.

“Former UCLA Bruins point guard Lonzo Ball is considering working out for the Philadelphia 76ers in advance of the 2017 NBA draft on June 22, league sources told ESPN.

“A final decision will be made once Ball's agent, Harrison Gaines, and Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo have had an extensive conversation centered on the identity of the team, sources told ESPN.”

Despite Ball being projected to be a top-two pick, it's still not a certainty, especially with the Los Angeles Lakers, who pick second, already having D'Angelo Russell and Jordan Clarkson in their backcourt. The Sixers though have a need for a point guard and have continuously been linked to some free agent point guards.

Even if he agrees to workout with the 76ers, there are also some factors that may force the team to choose a different player instead. The Lakers take him and eliminate him from the draft board. Their selection will also depend on whether or not they're sold to the idea that Ball and Ben Simmons can co-exist in their backcourt, as last year's top overall pick is expected to play point guard in some stretches as well.

It will be a very interesting buildup to the draft for the Sixers and many already have their eyes set on them. If there's any good news for the team though, they are in an enviable position as their options are open and they have a chance to further improve their roster.
