Man United defender Harry Maguire continues to be sidelined after picking up a calf injury against Aston Villa prior to the international break. However, he's offered a rather encouraging update which points to the Englishman returning to the pitch soon. Via 90min:

“I still haven't trained yet with the squad, but I am getting better, I am progressing as I should be. It is obviously a frustrating injury for me to get, but I am progressing and I will be back on the pitch soon.”

The Red Devils captain also missed out on representing his country on international duty over the last week due to the injury. Since he's been on the shelf, Man United beat Villarreal in UCL action then played to a 1-1 draw with Everton.

The club was handed another blow over the weekend as well, with Raphael Varane limping off for France with an apparent injury. It's likely that United is without both of their center-backs for the time being, which is certainly not ideal if you consider the tough fixtures ahead.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side lock horns with Leicester City on Saturday, followed by a Champions League meeting with Atalanta. Then next weekend, Man United faces Liverpool. Needless to say, this is going to be a daunting spell for the club without their two best defenders. Hopefully, both players are back sooner rather than later. For the time being, Solskjaer will be forced to use a makeshift back four.
