The Toronto Maple Leafs are one win away from reaching the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-3 on Tuesday night in Game 5. The series has been back and forth throughout, with teams alternating wins. But this game did not look very good for Toronto early on.

The Lightning jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first period, bringing back painful memories to Toronto fans everywhere. During intermission, Maple Leafs veteran forward Jason Spezza apparently gave an inspirational speech to the team, according to The Athletic's Maple Leafs reporter Jonas Siegel. Apparently, the speech worked.

The Maple Leafs went from trailing 2-0 to taking a 3-2 lead in the third period. The Lightning tied the game, but superstar Auston Matthews put the game to rest with a late rebound goal. That sent Maple Leaf Square into a frenzy.

Both Matthews and John Tavares credited the comeback to Spezza's speech.

Now, Toronto sits just one game away from doing something they haven't done in 18 years. 2004 was the last time the Maple Leafs made it out of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That's truly remarkable considering the overall success of the organization, as well as the talented teams in recent years.

What would make this even more impressive is that they is facing the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions. That's a great hockey team in Tampa Bay with almost all of the same players back that previously won the title.

Game 6 will be held back in Tampa Bay Thursday night.
