After missing the last two months of the NBA season and barely missing the window for an Olympic appearance with Spain, Marc Gasol is ready to return.

The Memphis Grizzlies center talked about his recovery from injury with Catalan newspaper L'Esportiu (translated by Jorge Sierra of HoopsHype).

On his foot injury:

“I’m really well and looking forward to starting (the season). I miss the competition, playing and enjoying basketball. All indications are that the foot is fine. I’ve practiced with the (Girona basketball club) juniors all I could, especially half-court sets.”

On almost making it to the Olympic Games:

“I was a couple of weeks away.”

This is great news for Grizzlies fans as their seventh-seeded team was swept in the playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs last season by an average of 22 points.

Marc Gasol's scoring, defensive tenacity and leadership could prove essential to this team, especially after the re-signing of Mike Conley Jr. and the acquisition of Chandler Parsons.

The Spaniard averaged 16.6 points, 7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game last season in 52 games played.
