Veteran shooting guard Danny Green believes he can help the Dallas Mavericks become a playoff team in 2019-20 if he joins them in free agency. The Mavs, along with the Los Angeles Lakers, are pursuing Green, who is an unrestricted free agent.

Green is waiting for superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard to make his decision. It's widely assumed Green will not re-sign with the Toronto Raptors if Leonard leaves.

The Mavs want to surround 2019 Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic and All-Star power forward Kristaps Porzingis with as many shooters as possible. Green is one of the best 3-point shooters in the league.

This past season with the Raptors, Danny Green averaged 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 46.5 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from beyond the arc and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line. The Mavs would love to add that type of production to their roster. Dallas hasn't made the postseason three seasons in a row.

The Mavs won 33 games this past season, the final year of the Dirk Nowitzki era. With Dirk retired, Doncic and Porzingis will be tasked with trying to get Dallas back to its winning ways.

Adding Green to the mix would be a great move for the Mavs, but it doesn't look like Green is going to make a decision until his pal Leonard does.
