Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki seems to be enjoying retirement from the NBA. In fact, he's having so much fun that he has forgotten how to stay in tip-top shape.

But he's not going to the bar or eating too much food, no. The one-time champion has spent the past month with his family. He's also been majorly involved in some charity work, which has led to him not having enough time for workouts.

Nowitzki was recently a guest in “The Ben & Skin” radio show where he jokingly said that in order for him to not gain any more weight, he has to eat ice cream, a lot.

“I've had ice cream almost every day, I've tried some suits on and they don't fit. I'm probably about 15 [pounds] plus.”

Dirk spent 21 seasons in the NBA, and he becomes one of the most popular international players of all-time. He admitted that he really planned to play one more season for the Mavs, especially so he could share the court with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, but Nowitzki said his body no longer wanted to cooperate with him.

“This season was tough on me, I think a lot of people didn't notice it that much, I was struggling at times, I was in pain a lot during games. It was just not as much fun as it once was.”

The Mavs have officially started the post-Nowitzki era and will look to build a competitive team next season. Although it would've been nice to see Dirk in the NBA for one more year, the future of the team he played for more than two decades is in good hands with Doncic and Porzingis leading the way.

So just continue to enjoy your ice cream, Dirk!
