Game 2 between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors was a tale of two halves. In the first two quarters, Luka Doncic and co. were near-unstoppable, as they came out scorching-hot. In the second half, though, the Warriors caught fire, and the visiting team couldn't hold on to their 19-point lead.

Obviously, the Mavs' Game 2 performance didn't sit well with head coach Jason Kidd. The former star point guard wasn't happy with how his team defended in the second half, saying that they didn't play defense when they couldn't make a shot. It was brutal assessment, but one that was completely correct. (via ClutchPoints on Twitter)

Frankly speaking, the Mavs' defense looked completely out of sorts in the second half of Game 2. A combination of lack of communication and poor effort led to many easy looks for the Warriors. Even when Doncic was making ridiculous shots in the fourth, the team just couldn't get a stop to save their life.

It seemed like the Mavs had cracked the Warriors code early in the game, too. Doncic and Brunson were hitting their stride, and the rest of the supporting cast was holding up pretty well. Unfortunately for them, they weren't able to keep their momentum in the second half.

The Mavs now face a 2-0 hole for the second time in the playoffs. They've been able to climb out of this rut before. Could this be the series that breaks the team, though? Luka Doncic will certainly try to NOT make that the case.
