Luka Doncic has quickly become a name in the conversation for the Most Valuable Player, but his rise to superstardom has also come with plenty of chirping at the officials — something that has become a trend this season.

The Dallas Mavericks superstar had some choice words for the referees at the end of a 110-106 loss to the Sacramento Kings after getting a no-call with 7.7 seconds remaining, feeling he did enough to earn two potential game-tying free throws.

Doncic was called for a technical foul late in the first quarter, yet tested the officials with every complaint throughout the game, something he owned up to after Sunday's loss.

“Yeah, for sure. But my thing is, I'm passionate for the game,” said Doncic, who had 27 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in the loss, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon. “I want to win, and I just sometimes get out of control, because I want to win the whole time. I'm competitive. You can ask my family. Even if it's not basketball, if it's anything, I'm so competitive. But, yeah, I've got to work on that for sure.

“I know how to [approach officials], but like I say, I'm passionate. I know a lot of times I'm wrong. Persons are wrong sometimes, and I've just got to learn to calm myself down and go to the next play.”

Doncic only has three technical fouls through 23 games this season, but he's better off slowing down on the yacking before he develops a reputation for his behavior on the floor, something he clearly intends to stay away from after owning up to his mistake.
