The Dallas Mavericks have ruled out rookie phenom Luka Doncic for Sunday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Mavs say Doncic is dealing with a right thigh contusion.

After Sunday's game vs. OKC, the Mavs have six games remaining in the regular-season.

In 70 games this season for Dallas, Luka Doncic has been nothing short of spectacular. The 20-year-old is averaging 21.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per contest while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from beyond the arc and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Luka has 22 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles on the season. He is widely expected to win the Rookie of the Year award.

The Mavs will obviously be cautious with Doncic moving forward. Next season is a big one for Dallas, as power forward Kristaps Porzingis will play after sitting out the entire 2018-19 season. Porzingis has fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered in 2017-18 with the New York Knicks.

Dallas is 29-46 on the season. They are going to miss the playoffs for the third consecutive year. The team wasn't expected to be competitive this season.

The development of Doncic was the only thing owner Mark Cuban and head coach Rick Carlisle ultimately cared about.
