Hours before Thursday's 3 pm ET trade deadline, Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle believes that his team will remain untouched. However, he knows how things can change in the blink of an eye in the NBA.

Per Mavs reporter Eddie Sefko, Carlisle asked the media to come back tomorrow at 2 pm.

“While I don’t think anything is going to happen with us, I don’t know for sure. Come 2:00 tomorrow, all of that will be decided.”

Carlisle also briefly recalled his playing days, joking that he wanted to be traded but didn't have value. The 60-year-old played in the 80s and even won a title donning the Boston Celtics jersey with basketball icon Larry Bird in 1986.

“We will be in the air at the time, but I don’t expect anything to happen. But there is no excuse for those kinds of things. When you play in the NBA, you sign up to possibly be traded. I would have loved to have been traded, but I didn’t have any trade value.”

The 2019-20 season has turned out extremely well for the Mavs. With Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis in the fold, the Mavs have sped up the rebuilding process and are now considered a playoff team. As of this writing, they sport a 31-20 record in the competitive Western Conference.

From the looks of it, the Mavs are looking to develop their current crop of players instead of reeling in a big fish via trade — at least for the meantime. After all, the consensus among analysts is that the Mark Cuban-owned team is still looking to beef up their roster to turn into a legitimate title contender. They'll probably let this trade deadline pass. But come summer, expect them to be aggressive is luring in some free agents.
