Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle saw something very special with his rookie stud Luka Doncic's performance down the stretch in their come-from-behind victory over the Houston Rockets.
Carlisle has been a long-time coach in this league, and has perhaps seen it all in his nearly 30-year coaching career. Thus, getting a compliment like this from a veteran tactician like Carlisle must be huge for the 19-year old kid.
Regardless, Doncic is a special player, and does not look and play like a 19-year old rookie at all. He certainly deserves all the hype that surrounded him upon entering the league with how he's showcasing his talent and skills on the biggest stage. With just 23 NBA games tucked under his belt, the Slovenian sensation has shown that he isn't afraid of the pressure-packed moments, and has a knack of making those shots under the brightest of lights.
Doncic was simply sensational in crunch time, as he led the Mavericks from an 8-point deficit against the Rockets. He put on a show for the final three minutes of the game to help the Mavericks pull off the come-from-behind win.
The Slovenian Wonderboy sparked off his personal 11-0 with a corner three-pointer. He then nailed another three at the top of the arc, and hit a tough floater in the lane on the following possession to pull the Mavericks within two.
Doncic capped off the solo run with his signature step-back three-pointer to give Dallas the lead for good, as they eventually pulled off the 107-104 home win over their Texas rivals.
