It's no secret that the Dallas Mavericks could use an upgrade in their frontcourt this summer. It is clear that the Mavs are in the market for a new center, but at this point, it appears that they are unwilling to break the bank.

New York Knicks big man Mitchell Robinson has made headlines of late now that he's nearing the end of his current deal. Robinson is expected to be one of the most sought-after free agents in the market this summer, but apparently, the Mavs aren't keen on joining the race. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Dallas intends to look for some frontcourt help elsewhere:

Meanwhile, an NBA source said center-starved Dallas is not expected to be interested in Robinson at his hefty price tag (at least $11M per year) and have set their sights on cheaper free-agent centers.

The Mavs will be spending a lot of money on the contract extension of Jalen Brunson this offseason, and this is expected to take up a huge chunk of Dallas' salary cap for next season. This team appears to already have its priorities in place, and it doesn't sound like they're going to be digging deep into their pockets for a new center.
