Since 2016, the social media platform TikTok has rapidly grown, especially during the pandemic as people resorted to it as a source of entertainment and a space for them to be content creators on their own. Undeniably, content revolving around sports is usually seen on the app and is already beginning to take over the NBA scene as well. Veteran players like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Paul Millsap, and Serge Ibaka have already made it to the app, while youngsters in Ja Morant, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Josh Giddey have also produced content on it as well. One of the latest marquee talents to hop on the TikTok wave is Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic, who is continuously seeing his follower count increase by the day.

Without a doubt, anyone can easily notice that NBA players are only following a select number of accounts across various social media platforms. The same goes for Doncic, who is only following a lone individual on his TikTok page thus far. Oddly enough, it isn't his girlfriend, sibling, teammate, or any other members of his inner circle.
A fan account with the handle @the_nba_facts that is being managed by a teenager named Caleb was lucky enough to receive a follow back from the NBA star. Since May 2020, he has been producing basketball content centered around ranking current players according to specific categories, as well as shedding light on facts and statistical records in league history. After over a year of regularly posting on the app, his account has grown from merely garnering 40+ views to reaching almost half a million views on some of his videos.

In one of his recently posted videos, Caleb showed that he was one of Doncic's first followers and went on to give him a warm welcome upon joining TikTok. The teenager claimed to be a big fan and even offered some help to the Slovenian on how to go around the platform, should he need it.
With Caleb's roughly 50,000 followers, he was able to spread the word about the Mavs star's newly made account. The video garnered around 453,000+ views, which certainly helped Doncic gain a significant number of followers of his own.
After several hours, Caleb then made another video to give an update on Doncic's follower count, which grew from 60+ to over 85,000 within a day. As of the moment, the Mavs' two-time All-Star already has over 170,000 followers and counting, and the efforts of the teenager certainly didn't go to waste as Caleb eventually earned a follow back from his favorite NBA player.

Doncic's account only has two posted videos thus far, both of which are showing him making trick shots during Mavs warmups before games. With his huge fan base, it wouldn't take long before both of his videos reached a million views on the app.

TikTok has surely served as an avenue for NBA players to show another side of their personality that isn't being seen quite often by the public, especially when they are playing on the court. Certainly enough, many fans around the world will be awaiting the content that Doncic will be putting up. He certainly has Caleb to thank for that.
