Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic has already impressed many NBA fans with his scoring ability and on-court maturity. On Saturday night against the Houston Rockets, both of these talents were on display as the Mavs wonderboy lit up the Rockets down the stretch.

With the Mavs down five and only two minutes remaining in the game, Doncic began his run with a step back three over the outstretched arms of Rockets center Clint Capela.

On the next offensive set, Luka Doncic found himself matched up against defensive whiz P.J. Tucker. Instead of giving in to Tucker and shooting a tough fadeaway, the Slovenian guard put his head down and bullied his way to the rack, where he finished with a soft floater to tie the game.

With just over a minute left and the crowd buzzing, Luka Doncic stared down Capela at the top of the key once again. After unleashing a filthy crossover that had his opponent sliding towards the rim, Doncic stepped back and hit yet another three to give the Mavs the lead. He then ran down the court with a grin on his face, shaking his right hand as if it was burning hot.

The Mavs would end up winning 107-104, with Luka Doncic scoring 11 points in just under three minutes in the final quarter.

The 19-year-old phenom is making a strong run at the Rookie of the Year plum, and if he continues to play like this, the award is sure to be his. So far for the Mavs, he has been everything promised and more.
