With Thanksgiving quickly approaching the Minnesota Vikings to have a couple of things they should be saying thanks for. They currently sit in the last wild card spot, but they control their own destiny in the NFC North and they wouldn't be in this spot if it wasn't for a couple of key people.

Let's look at two things they should be thankful for.

2. Being healthy, especially with Dalvin Cook

Different Vikings players have been banged up for the season but they haven't lost any key members to injury and that has been a big key, especially with Dalvin Cook.

Coming into the season, Cook had shown flashes of being a star running back, but he hasn't been able to stay healthy. There were questions if things would work out in Minnesota.

He has stayed healthy this season and now looks like one of the best backs in football. On the season Cook has rushed 214 times for 1,017 yards and 11 touchdowns. He has also caught 45 passes for another 455 yards.

One of the keys to making a deep run in the playoffs is keeping guys healthy, and so far the Vikings have done a good job of that.

1. Kirk Cousins

Coming into this season they were many fans who were not thankful that Kirk Cousins was on the Vikings, but he finally seems to be making most believers with his play on the field.

Last season the Vikings seemed to win games because the defense was strong and Cousins did just enough to come away with a win.

This season the Vikings the defense hasn't been strong and it has been Cousins who have led to the team to victories with his strong play. In the team's last comeback victory against the Denver Broncos, he threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

It's also clear the coaching staff trusts him to make the right decisions in big moments and they are calling plays that play to his strengths.

On the season, Cousins has completed 70.9 percent of his passes for 2,756 yards and 21 touchdowns. He has also done a better job securing the ball in the pocket when he is under pressure and has only thrown three interceptions.

There is no doubt that Lamar Jackson is the MVP this year, but if Cousins continues to play the way he has the rest of the season, there is no reason he shouldn't finish in the top five of voting.
