Tyler Skaggs, a former pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, died of an opioid overdose on July 1st, 2019.

From 2012 until his death in 2019, Skaggs was a pitcher for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It's been a few years since this matter arose, but the court has now received an answer regarding Eric Kay. Eric Kay, a former Los Angeles Angels trainer, was the one who administered the opiates and other medications to Tyler Skaggs.

According to ESPN's TJ Quinn, the decision on whether Eric Kay will face charges in the death of Tyler Skaggs has been made.

“Breaking: Government rests its case in U.S. v Eric Kay. Kay is charged with distributing opioids and causing the death of Tyler.”

It is now unknown how long Eric Kay will spend in prison and whether he will receive a severe term.

During the trial, other MLB players, such as CJ Cron and Matt Harvey, also spoke with the judge and talked about Kay giving them opioids.

Skaggs and Kay's circumstance is obviously not one that anyone would desire on anyone. Unfortunately, Tyler Skaggs appeared to have a prior history of drug misuse, with reports on Tuesday claiming that his mother wanted him to go to rehab in 2013.

It's a terrible scenario all around, and Eric Kay, sadly, should never have handed those opiates out and been an enabler for Skaggs.
