The Los Angeles Angels will continue their road trip with a three-game series in Arlington against the Texas Rangers on Monday. It's time to continue our MLB Odds coverage with an Angels-Rangers prediction and pick.

The Angels took three out of four games from the Oakland Athletics this weekend. They finished off the series with a 4-1 win on Sunday that included a two-run home run by Shohei Ohtani. Additionally, Patrick Sandoval tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run. Jimmy Herget closed the game out, retiring the final eight outs.

The Rangers avoided a sweep by fending off the Boston Red Sox 7-1 on Sunday. Adolis Garcia and Kole Calhoun hit two home runs apiece to pace the Rangers. The Angels are 24-13 and in a first-place tie in the AL West, while the Rangers are 14-19 and in fourth place in the AL West.

Why The Angels Could Cover The Spread

The Angels are competing for first place because of superior hitting and improved pitching. Monday, Noah Syndergaard takes the mound for the Angels. He is 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA in five starts. Syndergaard tossed 5 1/3 innings in his last start against the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing one earned run on seven hits with seven strikeouts. He has struck out 21 batters over five starts. Additionally, he defeated the Rangers 7-2 on April 16, throwing six innings while allowing two earned runs and five hits. He has support from a lineup that loves to face Texas.

Mike Trout is hitting .332 with 41 home runs, 115 RBI, and 138 runs scored in 170 career games against the Rangers, so it's a pretty good prediction to think the Angels superstar will have a big day. Also, Trout returns to the stadium where he injured himself last month, hoping to avoid a similar fate. He went 1-for-4 in Sunday's game against Oakland and will look to continue the momentum. Meanwhile, Ohtani is batting .278 with 13 home runs, 36 RBI, and 41 runs in 58 career games against Texas. He has excelled against the Rangers and will look to keep the production fresh at Globe Life Field. Additionally, Jared Walsh is hitting .398 with five home runs, 21 RBI, and 16 runs scored in 25 games against the Rangers.

Anthony Rendon has struggled in his career against the Rangers. He has hit .224 with just one home run and 10 RBI over 24 games against Texas. The Angels need him to pick it up to secure a victory in this one. Raisel Iglesias will be ready to close out tight games and will be looking to bounce back from his first blown save of 2022.

The Angels will cover the spread if Syndergaard pitches as efficiently as he did in his last start against Texas. Also, Trout, Ohtani, Walsh, and Rendon must all produce to cover without any issues. The bullpen must shut down the Rangers' bats and give their team the best chance to win.

Why The Rangers Could Cover The Spread

Texas will go with Jon Gray on the hill. Gray is 0-1 with a 5.57 ERA over four starts. He tossed 4 1/3 innings in his last start against the New York Yankees, allowing no earned runs with two hits and three walks. Monday, he will look to go longer into the game and attempt to clamp down on the pitches he throws and limit the walks. Gray will need his offense to contribute against Syndergaard.

Corey Seager has hit .280 with three home runs, 16 RBI, and 15 runs scored in 27 career games against the Rangers. Seager was the hitter that Angels manager Joe Maddon chose to intentionally walk with the bases loaded the last time these squads faced off. Now, Seager will attempt to justify that fear as he faces the Angels again.

Garcia and Calhoun contributed all of the offense in Sunday's game. However, Garcia has been up and down against the Angels, as he is hitting .193 with six home runs, 15 RBI, and 11 runs in 23 career games against the Halos. He usually hits a home run or he does nothing when he faces the Angels. Also, Calhoun has done well in limited action against his former club. He is hitting .391 with three home runs and seven RBI in seven games against the Angels.

The Rangers will cover the spread if Gray can give them a decent outing. Additionally, Texas needs Seager, Garcia, and Calhoun to propel the offense and put the Angels on their heels.

Final Angels-Rangers Prediction & Pick

The Angels are a better team than the Rangers and took two of three the last time these squads faced off in Texas. The Angels have the better pitcher in this showdown and will shut down the Texas offense. Take the Angels to win and cover the spread.

Final Angels-Rangers Prediction & Pick: Angels -1.5 (+115)
