The Chicago White Sox are in need of some victories. The team is looking to make some moves before the MLB trade deadline to add depth to their roster, and Luis Robert Jr. is rumored to be a player they would move to do it. The team is listening to all offers for the outfielder and would want several players for him, per USA Today.

The White Sox are rumored to be willing to deal Robert, if they could command a package greater than what the San Diego Padres did in 2022 for Juan Soto. In 2022, the Padres acquired Soto and Josh Bell from the Washington Nationals. In order to get Soto, the Padres gave up six players. That's an awful lot of guys to give up, but San Diego did it. The White Sox want to command a package similar to that, per USA Today. That would mean as many as seven or even eight players would be involved altogether if there's a trade for Robert.

Robert is carrying a heavy price tag with him. The center fielder is under contract through 2027. He is owed about $61 million if his club options are picked up, per the paper.

Robert hasn't been able to find his rhythm on offense this season for the club. The outfielder is hitting a woeful .205 on the season, with only one hit in his last three games. It's been a frustrating season in every sense for Chicago, as the team went through a 14-game losing streak. The White Sox are also last in the MLB in RBIs this season, and near the bottom in home runs. The team just can't find a way to score.

This slump is something that Robert isn't used to. The slugging outfielder has put up some good numbers in his professional baseball career. Robert has spent his entire career in Chicago, and is a career .277 hitter. He has more than 400 career hits, and more than 200 career RBIs. He has played with the White Sox since the 2020 campaign.

The White Sox are on track to finish with the worst record in baseball this season. That would be a disaster for the once proud franchise, as the team had more than 100 losses in 2023. So far this year, the club is on track to lose another 100 games. Heading into Sunday, Chicago has a 17-48 record. The team also has the worst road record in baseball, with just five wins away from the Windy City.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Robert, who is a fan favorite. The White Sox are decimated with injuries, as Tommy Pham and Eloy Jimenez are out until at least mid June. If Chicago is going to get its offense going right now, it has to be through Robert.

Chicago is in action again on Sunday, playing the Boston Red Sox. That game is ongoing at time of writing.
