Marvin Bagley has been climbing up NBA Draft boards with every work out, and while he's been rumored to go as high as No. 2 to the Sacramento Kings, that is simply not good enough for him.

The Duke standout is hoping to outshine every one of his draft mates, including top prospect and brandmate DeAndre Ayton, who was signed to a multi-year deal with Puma on Monday.

Asked if Ayton should be drafted before him, Bagley answered unequivocally.

“No, he shouldn't be,” Marvin Bagley told Sports Illustrated. “People could take it how they want, but I know DeAndre, we're both competitive, but at the end of the day we both play this game to be the best. So no, I don't think he should be drafted before me.”

Bagley has shown his competitive edge during his lone season at Duke, averaging 21 points and 10 rebounds in 2017-18 and outshining fellow five-star recruit and teammate Wendell Carter Jr., who is slated to be drafted a few spots below him,

A lanky, gifted athlete with excellent defensive instincts, Bagley is likely only a few inches away from being the No. 1 NBA Draft selection, as the 7-foot-1 Ayton has captured the Phoenix Suns' attention as a consensus top pick.

Nevertheless, whoever winds up selecting Bagley will love his competitive edge and willingness to go at his fellow draftmates, even before he touches the court.
