Murray State Racers point guard Ja Morant has not been shy of confidence when it comes to his abilities. The draft prospect told Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports he considers “point god” as his natural position coming into the league.

Morant is a consensus Top-2 pick in June's upcoming draft and by far the best playmaking guard available on the board, as he led the nation in assists with 10 per game.

“I am a point god,” said Morant, soon correcting Haynes: “God.”

Asked what makes him worthy of the moniker, Morant said it was “the ability to not only create for me, but also my teammates.”

“Just everything I bring to the table, honestly,” said Morant. “I try to put an all-around game and do whatever I can to help my team win.”

Haynes then put forward an interesting question, one the 6-foot-3 dynamo will be faced with when entering the league: “How can you get the best out of talent that is inferior to yours?”

“I've always thought about studying my teammates,” he said. “Just knowing what their strengths are and knowing where they like the ball. Knowing that gives you an edge, it makes your job easier. If you know what they want to do and you can put them in that position to do that, it makes your job way easier.”

Morant shined throughout the regular season, ranking eighth in the nation in scoring with 24.5 points per game, while shooting a hair under 50% from the floor along with a steady 36.3% clip from beyond the arc.

He impressed in his lone two games of the NCAA Tournament, showing clear flashes of brilliance in front of a national audience after being compared to former MVP Russell Westbrook ahead of his debut in the bright lights.
