Former NBA forward Caron Butler thinks Carmelo Anthony should be “granted an opportunity” to play in the NBA.

We are approaching September and Anthony is still on the open market. The 10-time All-Star hasn't played in an NBA game since November of 2018.

Caron Butler says forget analytics and just look at the eye-test when it comes to Carmelo Anthony, who can still probably average between 15-to-20 points if he's put in the right system.

Carmelo Anthony played in just 10 games with the Houston Rockets last season before the franchise exiled and traded him to the Chicago Bulls in January. The 10-time All-Star averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds with the Rockets while shooting 40.5 percent from the floor, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls waived Anthony in February. Since then, no team has expressed interest in signing the future Hall of Famer.

A report surfaced on Thursday that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are pushing the Brooklyn Nets to sign Carmelo Anthony. The Nets will be without small forward Wilson Chandler for the first 25 games of next season due to a PED suspension. Durant is widely expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles tear. The Nets could use Anthony's scoring ability.
