After his controversial remarks about Michael Jordan, retired NBA forward Channing Frye has received tons of “crazy DMs” about his parents.

Via Twitter, Frye revealed that he's been getting a ton of hate after his controversial comments on Jordan's playing style. For Frye, the messages he has received “comes from a different place of hate outside of sports.”

In the Talkin’ Blazers podcast, Frye claimed that Jordan really had one job: which was to score.

“So, like, Jordan is amazing, and this is not an argument to say he’s lesser, it’s just my opinion,” the one-time NBA champion said, as transcribed by Fox Sports. “So I think Jordan’s job on that team was the score, right? He had one of the first teams with two what we call tweeners, Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen. Right. Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen, and we can throw in Toni Kukoc, we can throw in Ron [Harper], who does not get enough credit …

“He only had really one job, and that was to just score. And he did that at an amazing, amazing rate. But I don’t feel like his way of winning then would translate to what it is now. Guys wouldn’t want to play with him.

As expected, his comments triggered Michael Jordan diehards who showed proof that Jordan was more than just a scorer during his time in the NBA. Critics also also trash-talked the hell out of him.

Even Frye's former colleagues reacted to his claim. Jamal Crawford teased Frye a bit, but the latter claimed that it's just his opinion. Growing up, he was a fan of the Phoenix Suns — the team that the Chicago Bulls booted out to win their third title.

Orlando Magic swingman Evan Fournier chimed in as well. However, the retired NBA player reiterated once again that it's just his opinion.

Channing Frye has always been unspoken about then NBA and basketball in general. As such, he has triggered several heated conversations among fans and colleagues. It's just unfortunate that some “fans” don't care about crossing the line.
