The 2019 NBA Draft will be here before you know it, and after the exploits of the NBA Draft Lottery, the New Orleans Pelicans will be selecting first overall – likely taking Duke University forward (and general basketball dynamo) Zion Williamson.

However, after Zion, there is one player whose brilliant highlights captured the attention of the NBA world at large throughout the season, which will likely lead to him being selected at #2 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Ja Morant out of Murray State had the rare combination of insane athleticism combined with brilliant court vision and terrific passing ability in his sophomore season; so much so that it became clear he was the second-best prospect in his draft class. Now, with Morant fully in the public eye as one of the best prospects in the 2019 NBA Draft class, the second-year guard was interviewed by Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report on her show “Take it There.” In the segment, Morant chose his current starting five for an All-Star team of his own creation. Here were his choices:

Not unexpectedly, Morant chose himself as the team’s point guard – showcasing his exuberant confidence in himself – while pairing with Paul George in the backcourt. In the frontcourt, a Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis duo up front would certainly be tantalizing.

The one position that Morant truly grappled with was at the three. He debated between LeBron James and Kevin Durant and ultimately opted for Durant in a somewhat surprising move. Morant chose not to include James, it sounds like because LBJ would take away touches from the team’s point guard – that is to say, Morant himself.

A young rook has to look out for “number one,” after all.
