With the 2021 NBA All-Star Game just around the corner, the votes for the best players in the league right now are pouring in. Leading the overall vote count so far are two very familiar players.

Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James leads all frontcourt candidates in the West with 2,288,676 votes after the first returns of voting, per the NBA. James has had yet another stellar season, averaging 25.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 7.5 assists a game. The Lakers are third in the Western Conference with a solid record of 16-6. In his 18th season in the NBA, James is showing no signs of slowing down, as the 36-year-old is hungry for his fifth championship. If James is selected to the All-Star Game this season, it will mark his 17th selection.

Over in the East, it is none other than Kevin Durant leading the frontcourt in voting with 2,302,705 votes. Durant has had no problems with competing at a high level after recovering from his Achilles injury that kept him from playing all of last season. In his first season actually playing with the Brooklyn Nets, Durant has averaged an impressive 30.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in the 17 games he has played this season. Looking forward to his 11th All-Star selection, Durant has proven that he is still one of the best scorers the league has potentially ever seen.

Rounding out the West if votes ended today, the starters would be Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, and Kawhi Leonard with James.

In the East, it would be Bradley Beal, Kyrie Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid with Durant.

As votes continue to come in, fans will be looking forward to these two competing in the star-studded NBA All-Star Game, announced to occur on March 7 in Atlanta, Georgia.
