Like the line at a Taylor Swift concert, the Kwame Brown saga doesn't seem to end. Now, a former NBA champion has also entered the fray. Or at least, it appears to be that way.
Brown is back in the headlines on Thursday after ESPN anchor Stephen A. Smith unleashed a savage roasting of the big man. But Richard Jefferson seemingly defended Brown after posting a plea on Twitter.
While it's unclear if Jefferson was indeed talking about Brown, it's not too far-fetched to think that he was. After all, the outspoken forward has always been lauded for being a good teammate and locker room presence. So him defending Brown from all the hate and mockery being tossed at him these days would be logical. Not to mention, moral.
It's also worth noting that Jefferson is also an ESPN talent just like Smith. So a conversation between them might be on the horizon. Please, let them have a debate! Or not.
Aside from Jefferson, who won a title with the Cleveland Cavaliers, another ESPN analyst in Jalen Rose has also defended Brown, saying the word “bust” is too strong of a word for someone who played multiple years in the NBA. While Brown didn't exactly pan out as the first overall pick in 2001, he carved out a decent career as an enforcer and backup big man.
It seems all the Kwame Brown slander won't die anytime soon, but Richard Jefferson's tweet should be a fair reminder to everyone to think twice.
