The Indiana Fever's early-season woes continued on Monday night against Alyssa Thomas and the Connecticut Sun. The Fever lost 88-84 after holding a three-point advantage at halftime. Moreover, rookie guard Caitlin Clark got frustrated late in the game after a few calls did not go her way.

Clark shared some not-so-nice words with an official after a possession, as provided by Barstool Sports. Clark told the referee to call a f*****g foul late in Monday night's game. Her outburst matches the Fever's frustration with their start to the 2024 WNBA season.

The Fever's loss to the Sun worsened their record to 0-4. Indiana received double-digit scoring performances from five different players, but it was not enough to get them over the hump. Caitlin Clark ended the night with 17 points, five assists, and three rebounds. Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell and NaLyssa Smith chipped 17 and 13 respectively.

Temi Fagbenle impressively notched an 11-point-10-rebound double-double off a bench. Second-year center Aliyah Boston had somewhat of a subpar showing, scoring just 10 points in the matchup.

The Sun had their experience and toughness on full display, led by 2023 MVP candidate Alyssa Thomas. Thomas nearly had a triple-double, amassing 24 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists. Her teammate DeWanna Bonner ended the matchup with 22 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Furthermore, Connecticut got stops when they most needed them. The Fever had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds when Aliyah Boston faked a handoff to Clark and drove to the basket. The Sun converged on Boston and caused her to miss the shot.

Like Clark, Boston has struggled during the part of the season. Nevertheless, Indiana and Caitlin Clark retain faith in her.

Fever go back to drawing board after slump-extending loss to Sun

Things are not going the way the Fever imagined they would at the beginning of the 2024 WNBA season. Their loss to the Sun saw them remain winless. However, the organization believes in what they are building with Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and the rest of Indiana's contributors.

When the Fever drafted Clark, she praised Boston's abilities, noting how the center would “make her life easier.” Life is not easy right now, but with continued work, things will brighten up for Clark, Boston, and Indiana.
