The NBA has allowed its teams to open their practice facilities on May 8, provided that their state has lifted its stay-at-home restrictions.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, a total of six assistant coaches can supervise workouts but no more than four at one time.

However, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, head coaches will not be allowed to observe the workouts.

Earlier, the NBA demanded that, upon the opening of teams’ practice facilities, players wear facemasks at all times except when working out. Coaches and trainers must wear gloves and practice physical distancing of at least 12 feet.

In the past, players hold their workouts in practically any practice facility. However, the NBA announced that it won’t be allowed this time around. Players can only workout in their team’s facility.

Amid these announcements, it is still unclear whether or not the 2019-20 season will resume. The NBA has always maintained their stand that the safety and well-being of its personnel and the general public is their main priority.

Over the past months, rumors have been mushrooming that the league is looking for an isolated place to hold its games and at the same time, house the players and staff.

Recent reports reveal that The MGM Grand in Las Vegas wants to host the resumption of the 2019-20 season, as the venue can accommodate the players and their families. There are also talks that games could be held in the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, where a number of basketball courts and hotels are located.
