Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Sasha Vujacic is eager to make a comeback in the NBA. After a successful championship-winning year with Italian outfit Auxilium Torino, the 34-year-old is hoping for another opportunity to play at the highest level.

“I don’t know where I will be playing next season” said Vujacic, per European sports website NanoPress. “But honestly, I am first waiting for the NBA. But I also know that my agent is talking to some European teams, Torino included.”

A 20-year-old Vujacic was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004 with the 27th overall pick. He would spend the next six and a half seasons in L.A., winning two NBA titles (in 2009 and 2010) in the process.

In the middle of the 2010-11 season, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. This is where he arguably played the best basketball in his NBA career averaging 11.4 points, 1.7 three-pointers, 2.3 assists, and 0.9 steals in 28.5 minutes per contest. Nonetheless, his tenure with the Nets was short-lived as the side decided against offering him an extension the following summer.

Vujacic would then spend the next four years playing overseas, save for a 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014.

The Slovenian saw a slight resurgence in his NBA career with the New York Knicks when he signed a one-year contract with the team in 2015. The Knicks were pleased with his contributions to the team and decided to offer him a second one-year contract the following season. In his two years in the Big Apple, Vujacic averaged only 4.1 points, 0.7 three-pointers, and 1.3 assists in 12.8 minutes off the bench.

Vujacic believes he still has some gas left in the tank and is hoping to get a call from an NBA team in the very near future.
