Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread
The Philadelphia 76ers have taken a leap this season under new head coach Doc Rivers. Philly has been contending for the past few seasons, but hasn’t had the talent or style of play to get over the hump. The 76ers just added to their case by acquiring point guard George Hill from the OKC Thunder at the deadline. Hill brings an added boost on the defensive end and from beyond the arc, which are both huge gaps. Philadelphia has put up elite production this year, ranking ninth in field goal percentage, third in rebounding, second in steals, and first in blocks per game.
The 76ers have been seeing monster production from many of their role players, including Shake Milton and most recently, Danny Green. Green went for 28 points on 8-12 shooting from three in the recent win against the Lakers. In the absence of MVP candidate Joel Embiid, the 76ers have also seen guys like Tobias Harris and Seth Curry step up when called upon. Philly is scorching hot of late, going 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games and 6-0 SU in their last six on the road. The 76ers are also 9-0 ATS in their last nine against the Clips.
Why The Clippers Could Cover The Spread
The Los Angeles Clippers are undoubtedly one of the best teams in the NBA this season. With the addition of Rajon Rondo at the trade deadline, it appears the Clippers are positioning themselves for a playoff run in the near future. Rondo will be looked upon to facilitate for a plethora of deadly outside shooters. The Clippers currently rank seventh in field goal percentage and first in three point percentage. Los Angeles shoots the lights out of the gym and plays good team defense.
With Kawhi Leonard out in the recent win against the Spurs, Reggie Jackson was called upon to take on some of the load. He did just that. Jackson went for 28 points in the win on highly efficient shooting from beyond the arc. The Clippers were also without Marcus Morris, Serge Ibaka, and Pat Beverly in the win. Doc Rivers bunch hasn’t been necessarily healthy, but they just continue to find ways to win games. Three players put up double doubles in the win against the Spurs and the Clippers are now looking to build on their current four game winning streak.

This is another game that could go either way on Saturday night. Both teams are playing such great basketball right now and there isn’t really an edge for either. One thing is for certain.
