The Knicks enter play coming off a win over the Los Angeles Clippers, though they're losers in three of their last four. Still, Sunday night's win in Los Angeles was a morale boost for the team, and they'll look to carry that over into a second consecutive victory against the Kings. R.J. Barrett has been red-hot of late, with the 21-year-old averaging 27.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over the past nine games. He'll look to continue to carry the torch for the Knicks, especially as Julius Randle has struggled in recent games. Randle has recorded 16 or fewer points in three of his past five games, and is averaging just 7.8 rebounds per game in that span, while shooting 33.7% from the field and an abysmal 15.4% from 3-point range. The Knicks are 26-38 on the year, sitting in 12th in the East.

The Kings are growing more accustomed to their new star duo of Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox, both of whom have been playing well of late. Sacramento has endured a 2-2 split in its last four games, and will look to improve to 25-42 with a win over the Knicks on Monday. Fox is enjoying his best stretch of basketball this season, averaging 30.0 points, 7.6 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game in his last five contests. No longer sharing a backcourt with Tyrese Haliburton has enabled Fox to make significant strides on offense. In that same span, Sabonis is averaging 14.0 points, 13.6 rebounds, and 6.6 assists, emerging as a constant triple-double threat for the Kings.

Both of these teams on the outside of playoff contention looking in, so let's get right to the pick.

Why The Knicks Could Cover The Spread

The Knicks may be underdogs on the road against the Kings, but as they showed on Sunday night, they're more than capable of overcoming the odds to earn an away win. With R.J. Barrett playing the best basketball we've seen from him in his NBA career, the Knicks will certainly look to feed him early and often in order to ride the hot hand to a win. The Kings lack exceptional on-ball defense on the wings, which will play well towards Barrett's strengths of getting to the basket or creating separation for a quick shot. Julius Randle could have his hands full in the paint with Sabonis, but the Knicks can rely on their outside scoring in order to get past the Kings.

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Kings will have the advantage on their home court, in addition to the fact that the Knicks are coming into the game on the second leg of a back-to-back. With De'Aaron Fox playing at his best, the Knicks defense will struggle to contain the star point guard, and he'll be a real threat to drop 30 points on his home court. With the likes of Fox and Sabonis leading the charge, the Kings are capable of beating the Knicks on all levels of the floor, so long as they manage to contain Barrett.

Final Knicks-Kings Prediction & Pick

Despite the hot hand of R.J. Barrett, the Knicks are going to be fatigued coming into the second leg of their back-to-back. The Kings will get De'Aaron Fox going early in the game and cruise to victory, covering the spread handily against the Knicks on Monday night.

Final Knicks-Kings Pick: Kings -4 (-110)
