The Minnesota Timberwolves will play the Dallas Mavericks in a Western Conference matchup on Tuesday evening. It's time continue our NBA odds series with a Timberwolves-Mavericks prediction and pick.

The Timberwolves and Mavericks will play on Tuesday as Dallas continues to be without star guard Luka Doncic. Minnesota will be without young star Anthony Edwards, who is currently in the NBA's Covid protocols. The Timberwolves have five players in total in Covid protocols but they are still riding a four-game win streak. The Mavericks have three players in the protocols themselves in addition to Doncic being out with the ankle injury. The Mavericks are still slight favorites at home in this spot over Minnesota despite being a bit shorthanded and having lost their last two games.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Timberwolves-Mavericks odds for this Tuesday NBA matchup.

NBA Odds: Timberwolves-Mavericks Odds

Minnesota Timberwolves +1.5 (-110)

Dallas Mavericks -1.5 (-110)

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

Minnesota still has Karl-Anthony Towns here, and could be a nice upset pick. Kristaps Porzingis is questionable, and Willie Cauley-Stein is out for Dallas. The Mavericks are not the strongest team inside to begin with, so Towns may be able to go to work in this one. Towns had 24 points in a win over these Mavericks when these two teams faced off on Sunday night in Minnesota. The Timberwolves will be without Anthony Edwards, Patrick Beverly, Josh Okogie, Taurean Prince and Jarred Vanderbilt in this one. All five players are in Covid protocols.

The Timberwolves are 7-5 vs. the spread on the road this season and 6-5 on the road as road underdogs. Minnesota is 15-15 vs. the spread on the season, and has covered in their last four games. This could be a good spot for another win and cover vs. a shorthanded Mavericks group.

Why The Mavericks Could Cover The Spread

Dallas is without Luka Doncic, and may be without Porzingis as well though he is questionable. The Mavericks are still favorites as Minnesota has five players out in the protocols. This could be a sloppy game as both teams try to navigate 48 minutes with mismatched rotations. Dallas will obviously be without their offensive creator in Doncic and will need Porzingis to be the No. 1 option if he can suit up. Maxi Kleber, Reggie Bullock and Josh Green are among the Mavs' players in Covid protocols.

The Mavericks are 4-6 vs. the spread as home favorites this season, and 13-16 against the spread overall. Dallas has covered in three of their last four games, so they may have been a bit undervalued so far by oddsmakers in Doncic's absence. The Mavericks are 7-7 outright at home this season, and will look to move above .500 on their own floor with a win on Tuesday vs. Minnesota.

Final Timberwolves-Mavericks Prediction and Pick

Porzingis' final status will be a huge thing to monitor here. If he's ruled out, this line likely moves towards the Wolves. The presence of Towns makes the Timberwolves a tempting play to begin with, but if Porzingis is ruled out they become an even better pick. Take Minnesota to cover and win in this spot as the Mavericks are without their best player and may be thin inside as well in this one. The Timberwolves are riding a four-game win streak and will look to keep things rolling in this one.

Final Timberwolves-Mavericks Prediction & Pick: Timberwolves +1.5 (-110)
