The summer league is a great way for young players to impress their franchises, the media and other players. It is also the first proper look the scouts and coaching teams get of their high draft picks. One of those picks is Boston Celtics forward and third pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Jayson Tatum.

Tatum played three games in Utah and three games in Las Vegas, where the Celtics are awaiting their opponents for the second round. While the C's lost two out of three in Utah, Tatum impressed. He averaged 18.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, shooting 46.8 percent from the field.

In Vegas, Tatum averaged 17.7 points and 8.0 rebounds with almost one block per game, while shooting 42.2 percent from the field. The games did not go unnoticed by other NBA players.

Tatum showed a lot of offensive potential that goes beyond his stats. He provided scoring on demand for the Celtics, showing that he can be counted on to score whenever the C's need it.

However, things that will need to be improved in the league exist. One of them is the defensive end, where Tatum showed little-to-no interest. Along with that, Tatum needs to be a better passer and playmaker, and a less selfish player.
