Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose is garnering trade interest from a few teams with the trade deadline looming, most notably the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.

According to The Athletic, the Pistons are asking for a first-round pick in return for Rose:

According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Rose is happy with the Pistons and won’t request a trade. However, it may be out of his control, as the Pistons appear to be rebuilding and could get a draft pick or two in exchange for Rose.

Rose is averaging 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists this season for Detroit. He’s shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 31.0 percent from beyond the arc and 86.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The vice chairman of the Pistons is Arn Tellem, who was Rose’s agent before. Odds are the front office will have discussions with Rose and his camp before anything goes down.

Rose has started the last four games for the Pistons after he asked for an extended role with more minutes last week. The former MVP has scored at least 20 points in 10 straight games and is averaging 21.7 points over his last 15 games.

The Pistons, after defeating the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in point guard Reggie Jackson's triumphant return to action, are now 17-28 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings and 2.5 games back of the Brooklyn Nets for the eighth and final playoff spot out East.
