Ben Simmons is expected to play in Game 4 of the Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics series. The guard hasn't played in an NBA game since he was with the Philadelphia 76ers in June of 2021.

Simmons' long hiatus has made his return to the court extremely suspenseful. However, he said something ahead of Game 3 that could put a damper on his Nets debut.

New York Daily News reporter Stefan Bondy asked Simmons if he would still play in Game 4 if the Nets lost Game 3 Saturday night. The loss would put the Nets back three games in the series.

Bondy tweeted Simmons' less-than-ideal response to the hypothetical question Friday afternoon.

While Simmons didn't say no, he also didn't say yes. He also show extreme optimism in his team pulling off a Game 3 win.

Game 1 was a hard-fought nail-biter that could have gone either way. However, that wasn't the case in Game 2. The Celtics completely took over and shut down Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, the top contributors in Brooklyn's starting five. While the game was close, it was obvious that the Celtics had all of the answers and more Wednesday night.

Fortunately for the Nets, they are hosting the next two games in Brooklyn. Home court advantage is huge for any team in the playoffs, and it could be enough to push them to a win Saturday night.
