Former Brooklyn Nets players D'Angelo Russell and Jared Dudley took to Twitter to react to the news of the Nets and head coach Kenny Atkinson parting ways.

Dudley and Russell were on the Nets last season and both developed close and positive relationships with Atkinson:

The Nets traded Russell to the Golden State Warriors in the Kevin Durant sign-and-trade deal since they were signing Kyrie Irving in free agency. Russell is now on the Minnesota Timberwolves after the Warriors traded him for Andrew Wiggins at the February trade deadline.

Dudley is on the Los Angeles Lakers now after signing with L.A. in free agency. The veteran power forward has talked a lot about the great culture the Nets have built. It's why Durant, Irving and DeAndre Jordan signed with the Nets instead of the New York Knicks.

The Atkinson news will surely take a few days to process since no one saw it coming. The Nets are back in action on Sunday when they host the lowly Chicago Bulls.
