There's nothing to Carmelo Anthony working out with Brooklyn Nets players in Los Angeles, as it's just friends playing pick-up basketball, according to Brian Lewis of The New York Post.
Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving organized a mini-camp for Brooklyn players in Los Angeles. Anthony is joining the Nets players who are working out, but it doesn't mean Brooklyn is interested in signing the 10-time All-Star and former New York Knicks forward.
Former Knicks star Carmelo Anthony has reportedly been working out with a host of Nets players in Los Angeles. But sources tell The Post that’s all it is, pick-up games with friends, and not a sign that Anthony is Brooklyn-bound.
“Nothing to it,” a source close to Anthony told The Post. “There’s several guys (playing) that aren’t Nets, but friends and other NBA players.”
Carmelo Anthony played in just 10 games with the Houston Rockets last season before the franchise exiled and traded him to the Chicago Bulls in January. Melo averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds with the Rockets while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.
The Bulls waived Anthony in February. Since then, no team has expressed interest in signing the future Hall of Famer.
Carmelo Anthony’s future in the NBA is very uncertain, as we are in August and Melo is still on the open market.
