Baker Mayfield is one of the more exciting players in the coming draft. Fans are eager to see who will draft him. There are a handful of teams interested in his services, and he may have impressed some of them during the Combine.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko, Mayfield says he “clicked” with the coaching staffs of the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins in Indianapolis. He also thinks he aced the tests the Dolphins, Broncos, and New Orleans Saints gave him when he was asked to break down some plays for them. Mayfield even remembered what some of them were.

“Miami’s was a gun, Richmond protection, with an out route and backside go,” he says. “Denver was Dice right, 72, seam on the backside and a dig.”

Of course, whoever does draft him would be smart to utilize at least certain aspects of the offense he ran at Oklahoma. Mayfield told Klemko that he had teams asking questions about the Sooners offense as well as about him.

“Some teams are just analyzing our offense,” Mayfield said (SI.com). “You look at Philadelphia running RPOs, and what McVay is doing with the Rams. Some of what we did is the next step for the NFL. They have to adapt to the players, and that’s what it’s all about. It’s not old-school football anymore. You’ve got to play to your players’ talents.”

The evaluation process has only just begun for Mayfield. He is undoubtedly going to have a full house at his Pro Day. He also has visits set up with the New York Giants, New York Jets, and Cleveland Browns. There will surely be more added in the days to come. If his skillset translates to the NFL, whoever takes him will be very glad they did.
