Former Houston Cougars defensive tackle and 2019 NFL Draft prospect Ed Oliver is officially a member of the Buffalo Bills. The collegiate standout just came off the board to the Bills at No. 9 overall, Oliver can definitely be expected to make an immediate impact at the NFL level.

Despite encountering what ultimately became a bit of a tumultuous final season at Houston, the former Cougars defensive lineman still managed to improve his NFL Draft stock throughout the spring en route to becoming a top 10 pick.

“Twitched-up ball of explosive fury from the moment he comes out of his stance, but his lack of NFL size and length creates challenges with his NFL projection,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com. “Oliver's athletic ability is beyond rare, but his ability to add and maintain mass could be the critical for his future success. He creates early advantages but must convert them into early disruption to prevent NFL size from swallowing him. Scheme fit will be critical with shade nose or three-technique as the obvious considerations. If Oliver's frame is maxed out, he might possess the speed, toughness and instincts to transition into an inside linebacker role.”

The 21-year-old defensive tackle, who went on to spend three seasons at the collegiate level with Houston, stands at 6'2″ while notably weighing just shy of 300 pounds. Physically assembled to become an immediate contributor for the Bills, Oliver has the unique ability to affect both the rushing and passing attacks of a given opponent.

Unfortunately, though, Oliver won't be able to wear his patented No. 10 during his time in the NFL as this would go against league rules.
