Both Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes have been the talk of the NFL as the two most exciting quarterbacks in the league. They also have been compared to Brett Favre by the way they play the quarterback position.

In a recent interview, Favre agrees that Mayfield and Mahomes' styles of play match up to his. Favre has heard people compare the two to himself and has watched both quarterbacks perform.

“There’s no question that the sky is the limit for Baker,” Favre told GateHouse Media Ohio in a recent interview. “And, yeah, I think his style of play, and I’ve heard the same thing about [Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick] Mahomes, and I agree with both, that their styles of play — if you had to pick a former player — would certainly match up to my style.”

When Favre suited up in the NFL, he was known as a gunslinger who wasn't afraid to make any throw. During his time with the Green Bay Packers, Favre had one of the best arms the league has ever seen.

Some people have labeled Favre's playing style as reckless but it is better defined as fearless. Both Mayfield and Mahomes show the same characteristics in that sense as the former Packers quarterback.

In addition, Favre also found ways to make plays outside the pocket with his arm. He also had a fiery passion when he was on the field. Those are other common themes that are seen in both Mayfield and Mahomes.

Last season, Mayfield willed the Browns to a 7-8-1 record after the team went 0-16 in 2017. For Mahomes, he threw for over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns to take home the MVP trophy.

The hype surrounding Mayfield in his second season is through the roof but even Favre is one of the onlookers who believe that the Browns quarterback can be special like he once was.
