Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick remains unemployed despite recently settling his differences with the league — well, on paper anway. However, it remains as clear as ever that the former San Francisco 49ers signal caller wants to return to the NFL ranks with Kaepernick's lawyer recently speaking out in regards to such a topic.

“He absolutely wants to play,” attorney Mark Geragos recently told CNN, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. “He wants to compete at the highest level. This is a competitive young man.”

Not only that, but Geragos emphasized that his client remains ready to roll if that long-awaited phone call ever comes.

“I will tell you, he is the most fit vegan I have every seen in my life,” Geragos added. “To my somewhat trained eye, he looks like he’s ready to play.”

Geragos also remains tremendously optimistic that Kaepernick will indeed sign with a NFL franchise sometime soon.

“I’m gonna make a bold prediction although I’ve been wrong once before on this, I’m gonna make a bold prediction that one of three teams will pick him up,” Geragos said. “The natural would be if Cam Newton is out, the natural place to be is to play with Eric [Reid] in Carolina.”

The 31-year-old quarterback last played in a regulation NFL game back in 2016-17. Spending his entire NFL career as a member of the aforementioned 49ers as it stands today, Kaepernick even appeared in a Super Bowl during his time in San Francisco. He was originally selected by the 49ers in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Nevada.
