Veteran wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was involved in a single-car accident in Denver early Saturday morning, according to the Denver Police Department. He and and two others were driving along Auraria Parkway shortly after midnight when their car crashed and rolled over.

Authorities arrived on the scene shortly after the incident, immediately transporting Thomas and the passengers to a nearby hospital. Thomas and his male passenger were treated for minor injuries, while their female companion sustained more serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but law enforcement's initial assumption is that Thomas was driving inbound on Auraria Parkway near 12th Street when he lost control of the vehicle, leading it to flip into a median near Speer Boulevard, the police say.

Thomas was released by the Houston Texans earlier this week. The 31-year-old suffered a torn achilles tendon in his team's December 23rd loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, robbing him of the chance to play in Houston's playoff game. Thomas began the 2018 season with the Denver Broncos, who drafted him in 2010, but traded him to Houston in late October along with a seventh-round pick in exchange for a fourth-round pick their own seventh-rounder.

Thomas finished the season with 59 catches and 677 receiving yards, the lowest numbers since his sophomore campaign in 2011.

He played well enough during his abbreviate tenure with the Texans to draw interest in free agency, but his achilles tear, combined with his age, makes it unlikely Thomas will be offered a long-term contract this offseason.
