Superstar safety Eric Weddle announced his retirement earlier this offseason. After a long career, Weddle will be remembered as a great player for a long time, and will likely be honored in the Hall of Fame one day.

Weddle played for three teams in his career. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers (back then the San Diego Chargers) back in 2007. He played there until 2015, spending nine years with the team.

From there, the safety went to the Baltimore Ravens, where he spent three more years. Then he spent one year with the Los Angeles Rams before retiring this offseason.

In all those years, Weddle racked up massive numbers. He finished his career with 1,178 tackles to go along with 9.5 sacks. Weddle also recorded eight forced fumbles (and recovered five), as well as 29 interceptions and 99 pass deflections, scoring five touchdowns in his career.

The safety was known as an all-around monster. He could shut down the pass and bring down any ball carrier. And now he's announced what team he would like to retire with.

Common sense would tell you the Chargers, just because he easily spent the majority of his career there. However, according to Alex Bente of Ravenswire.com, it's actually the Ravens.

The years are different. Weddle spent just three seasons with the Ravens, compared to nine with the Chargers. He has serious issues with the management of Los Angeles, though.

Due to that, Weddle doesn't really seem to want to be associated with that franchise.

That means he's going with the team that he spent the second-most amount of time with in Baltimore.

Even in just three years, Weddle left his mark with the Ravens. With that in mind, the franchise will likely welcome him with open arms.
