Ahead of the 2020 NFL season kicking off between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texas on Thursday night, Forbes released its annual list of valuations for all 32 franchises, with no surprise at the top.

The Dallas Cowboys lead the list again, coming in at a value of $5.7 billion. That’s billion with a “B.”

Owned by Jerry Jones, the NFL institution saw a rise of four percent in value, per Forbes, and edges out the rest of the competition by a healthy margin. The Cowboys are over one billion dollars more valuable than the next franchise, the New England Patriots.

Speaking of the Patriots, at second place, New England is worth $4.4 billion with rival New York Giants falling in right behind them at $4.3 billion. The Patriots and Giants, of course, battled in two Super Bowls in the span of five years, giving the New York franchise both victories in upset fashion.

Rounding out the top five of most value NFL franchises, according to Mike Ozanian and Kurt Badenhausen in Forbes, are the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers—two of the league’s Californian clubs. The Rams just moved into their new home at SoFi Stadium, sharing it with L.A. neighbor Chargers, while the 49ers, defending NFC champions, are now the sole Bay Area squad following the Raiders’ relocation.

At the bottom are the Cincinnati Bengals, who just earned the first overall pick in this year’s draft and selected LSU Tigers star quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow to hopefully lead their franchise into the future.

Interestingly enough, the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are only the 23rd most-valuable NFL franchise. Another interesting tidbit was seeing the Los Angeles Chargers—the Rams’ co-tenant—nearly one and half billion dollars less valuable than their fellow L.A. club.
