Fans weren't the only ones surprised with the breaking news and players were taken aback after hearing what had unfolded. Many players offered their support for Luck as he embarks on a new journey outside of football. Guys like Dez Bryant, Larry Fitzgerald, and even Robert Griffin III shared their reverence for Luck.
During his playing career, Luck was known as a fierce competitor on the field week in and week out. At the same time, he was also known to be a phenomenal player to compete against; with him smiling while taking a sack from a behemoth like J.J. Watt.
Luck played seven seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and came into the franchise as the heir apparent to Peyton Manning. From the start, Luck exceeded expectations and helped lead the team to four playoff berths in his career.
One of those included last year, where he had a remarkable season after returning from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the 2017 season. The Colts quarterback threw for 39 touchdowns en route to winning the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Now, injuries have caught up to the fearless signal-caller and he is ready to move forward without football. To some people, they view him as a quitter but he's far from it. Luck poured out his blood, sweat, and tears for the city of Indianapolis and deserves praise for it.
It was nice to see that the players in the NFL gave him the respect that he earned by giving everything he got for seven years.
