The Carolina Hurricanes will head into Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins for the tail end of their back-to-back series. The Hurricanes won at home last night against the Flyers, adding a fourth game to their winning streak. The Penguins are coming off of a home win against the Knights on Friday as they look to get back on track in the standings since they are now tied with the New York Rangers for second place in the Metropolitan Division. The Hurricanes currently lead that division by eight points. And with that, it’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Hurricanes-Penguins prediction and pick.

Why The Hurricanes Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Carolina Hurricanes are slowly starting to build a pretty large cushion on top of the Metropolitan Division as they are now eight points ahead in the division, and two points ahead of the Florida Panthers for the first place spot in the East. Star forward, Sebastian Aho is on a four-game point streak as he could easily reach 90 points on the year if he continues to produce. The Hurricanes will be starting back up goaltender Antti Raanta between the pipes tonight as the usual starter, Freddy Andersen started yesterday. Raanta has been solid this year as he's posting a 2.31 goals-against average with a .918 save percentage. He'll have to be on his A-game tonight as he faces off against a point-hungry Penguins team.

Why The Penguins Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Pittsburgh Penguins conclude a three-game homestand today where they have gone back and forth with wins and losses over their last four matchups. The Penguins tend to be a pretty streaky team, so if this trend were to continue, it would suggest that they lose here today, but Sidney Crosby and the Penguins want to close that eight-point gap in the standings that the Hurricanes have created between them. It's not official, but the Penguins will very likely have Tristan Jarry defend the home crease tonight as he has had a terrific season so far. He is sporting a .921 save percentage and allowing 2.33 goals against per game. The Penguins definitely have their work cut out for them today, but refuse to turn down a challenge.

Final Hurricanes-Penguins Prediction & Pick

The last time these two teams played each other was actually just nine days ago where the Hurricanes came out on top with a 3-2 overtime win. The Hurricanes are rolling right now, and ready to take the lead for the most points in the league. When I first noticed the odds, I was honestly shocked that they were listed as underdogs, so let's hop on this opportunity before it's too late. Give me the Hurricanes Moneyline on the road to keep their streak alive.
