The Houston Texans are currently pretty good at every position except one. Unfortunately, it just so happens to be the most important position on the field. Houston realizes this, and has essentially put quarterback Tom Savage on notice.

It is now or never for the gunslinger.

While Texans offensive coordinator Sean Ryan mentioned a relative lack of experience as an issue, head coach Bill O’Brien is no longer having any of that. He is ready to see some results.

“Yeah, he doesn’t have a ton of experience, but it’s time,” O’Brien said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “It’s time. It’s time to get going.”

“The quarterback’s judged on two things: how many times he gets his team in the end zone and wins,” O’Brien said. “That’s basically how it’s judged.”

Calling a lack of experience an issue for Savage is a weird conversation to have. He's been in the National Football League for four seasons, but only has five starts under his belt. While it could be argued that there's good reason for him only starting five games in four years, it does lend some credence to the idea that he has no real game experience.

Nevertheless, Tom Savage is dangerously close to becoming a lifelong NFL backup who showed himself to be not even good enough for that role. A lot of guys are able to “hide” on the sidelines, only to get kicked out of the league completely after getting their shot as a starter, then being exposed as an actually awful QB.

No pressure on Tom Savage or anything.
