Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray had one of the best scoring games since Carmelo Anthony in a Nuggets uniform when he scored 48 points on the Boston Celtics Monday. Celtics head coach Brad Stevens explained during postgame why the team could not slow down Murray.

The Celtics are the best defensive team in the league. They rank number one in opponents' points, giving up only 99.8 per game. Their last three games, however? 106.7 points per game.

They gave up 48 points to Jamal Murray tonight. Whatever defensive game plan they had for Murray and the Nuggets clearly did not work.

It was still a stellar performance by Murray and something that will boost his confidence even more throughout this season.

Jamal Murray is a rising young player in the league. He currently has the Nuggets at a 9-1 record and tied first with the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference. The Nuggets also now have won five in a row, and are undefeated at home with a 6-0 record.

Another reason why the Celtics probably had an issue stopping Murray all game was because the Nuggets are one of the top offensive teams in the league. In fact, they rank 13th on offense and are averaging 111.8 points per game.

Jamal Murray now averages 18.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and one steal per game on 46.7 percent shooting from the field and 31.4 percent from 3-point distance.

The Nuggets have once again beaten another top team in the league. The Nuggets are one of the most surprising teams in the league so far with one of the hottest starts.
